Prof. Roger Clarke from Australia gave speech about PET's 2.0 at our RTG

Roger Clarke is a professor for Information Systems, Business Information Systems and Administrative Law at Australian National University College of Engineering and Computer Science.

As working as an independent consultant in the strategic and policy implications of advanced information technologies, with a particular focus on eBusiness, information infrastructure, and dataveillance and privacy made him a valuable guest for the GRK, he gave an invited talk at our RTG on november 28.

In his presentation he illustrated in how far Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) have been an enormous disappointment due to the fact that technological inadequacies have undermined the three-component regulatory framework leading to multiple failures. Hence, a new round of products and services is required: PETs 2.0.

Further, PhDs had a great opportunity to discuss their research with Prof. Clarke and benefit from his broad expertise in the areas of privacy in conjunction with politics/legal aspects as well as user acceptance of technology.
